POSITION SUMMARY
The physical therapy technician’s role is to assist the physical therapy staff. Some of the specific duties include: assisting patients through exercise routines, assisting the physical therapists with efficiency in the flow of patient treatment, set-up of modalities, cleaning treatment tables and rooms after patient use, routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment, filing patient charts, making copies of home exercise programs, and phone work.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
To accompany/transfer patients to the appropriate treatment area to facilitate the
treatment process.
- To assist in routine patient care activities as directed by the treating Physical
Therapist/Physical Therapist Assistant and within the guidelines mandated by the
State’s Physical Therapy practice Act - Maintain the facility in a clean and organized fashion throughout the day with

The Total Joint Coordinator is responsible for the coordination and maintenance of the care continuum for total joint patients. The Joint Program Coordinator provides leadership for all aspects of the continuum of care beginning before surgery through one-year post-op; including Pre-Admission Testing, Peri-op Services, Post-op Care (Physician appointments and Rehabilitation) and all other applicable entities within the orthopedic service line related to evidence-based medicine. Assist in the planning, development, and implementation of program goals and operations. Responsible for providing education to other clinic employees to ensure proper care/documentation is being completed in compliance with all legal, administrative, and regulatory standards in regards to total joint guidelines.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop standardized care plans with the surgeons including pre-op, post-op, and discharge orders.
- Ensure appropriate pre-op procedures for each patient prior to Develop and oversee the creation of pre and post-operative teaching classes including the coordination of teaching materials within the physicians’ office. Position Summary:
The DME/Pharmacy Coordinator is responsible for managing the durable medical equipment (DME) and pharmacy services within the orthopedic practice. This role ensures that patients receive the necessary medical supplies and medications in a timely manner while maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements. The DME/Pharmacy Coordinator will collaborate with healthcare providers, suppliers, and insurance companies to facilitate efficient and effective patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
DME Management
- Coordinate the ordering, receiving, and distribution of DME supplies.
- Maintain inventory levels to ensure availability of necessary equipment.
- Educate patients on the proper use and care of medical equipment.
- Ensure DME compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.
- Handle warranty and repair issues for DME.
Pharmacy Coordination

University Orthopedics Center (UOC) is currently seeking a medical assistant to work with Lynn Thompson-Gregory, CRNP, Osteoporosis Coordinator. This is a full-time position for the Altoona location, with travel to satellite locations based on need.
Job Responsibilities:
- Facilitate efficient provider-patient communication and assist with scheduling,
- paperwork, and insurance pre-certifications.
- Manage prior authorizations for medications.
- Monitor and organize the delivery of patient medications and order necessary supplies.
- Coordinate the scheduling of IV Reclast treatments and other injection appointments.
- Educate patients about osteoporosis care, ensuring educational handouts are available and
- provided at each location.
- Acquire, review, manage, and lab results, DXA Scans, and other testing results prior to
- and after patient visits.
- Contact patients with their test results and respond to inquiries.
- Prepare patients for exams, including gathering patient history, medication lists, and any

Position Summary: The Physician Assistant (PA-C) will provide medical and surgical assistance to UOC Physicians in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients in inpatient and outpatient surgical and clinical settings. The PA-C will have a direct reporting responsibility to the primary supervising Physician however shall also be accountable and provide support to all other UOC physicians and management as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Physician Assistant Degree
Certification by NCCPA
Licensure or eligible licensing as a Physician’s Assistant in the State of Pennsylvania.

Outpatient Clinic Responsibilities:
Screen patients to determine the need for medical attention.
Review patient records to determine health status.
Obtain comprehensive patient history
Perform a physical examination
Record pertinent patient data
Make decisions regarding data gathering and appropriate management and treatment of patients being seen for initial evaluation of a problem or the follow-up evaluation of previously diagnosed and stabilized condition.

Inpatient Responsibilities:
Complete individual daily rounds on all inpatients and documentation of medical plan.
Participate in rounding with Physicians and provide emergency call coverage support as assigned
Provide routine medical management of inpatient care including ordering of diagnostic tests, labs, x-rays, medications (within scope of the PA license) and nutrition, managing adjunctive care.
Initiate appropriate emergency care in the inpatient and outpatient setting until the arrival of the supervising physician
Manage discharge of patients with appropriate disposition, follow up planning, adjunctive therapy management and education.
Make assessment of emergency conditions and, in conjunction with physician, implement management
Surgery:
Function as first or second assistant in the operation room including performing surgical exposure, surgical dissections, layer closure of wounds, harvesting of autologous graft materials, and application of immobilization devises.
Assist with use of monitoring devices, including radiographic equipment.
